According to a report from BET.com, Zoe Saldana’s mother sometimes confuses her for Thandie Newton. The Guardians of the Galaxy alum stopped by James Corden’s show where she talked about her mother’s continuous failure to recognize that Newton isn’t her daughter.

Saldana joked with Corden that her mother thinks she’s in Westworld (the HBO series in which Thandie stars), adding that she says to her mother, “‘Mom, you did not give birth to Thandie Newton.'” You can check out the video of the star explaining her story below:

As for how Newton feels about this dilemma, Saldana claims she and Thandie once met at an awards ceremony. The Colombiana alum tried to explain the awkward scenario, but Thandie didn’t even know who she was. Zoe said she hugged Thandie and Newton responded with a curt, “Who are you?”

Fortunately, however, their meeting, while it was awkward in the beginning, turned into a successful friendship later. Saldana said she and Thandie now text each other. They’re “sisters,” the Hollywood star remarked.

The last time we heard from Zoe Saldana was when she was supporting her Guardians Of The Galaxy co-worker, James Gunn, amid his controversy with Disney and Marvel. As it was previously reported, the company had fired Mr. Gunn due to a history of pedophiliac tweets.

Zoe was just one among many actors and actresses who came out in Gunn’s defense, arguing he never should’ve been fired. Zoe and her castmates went on to sign a petition to have Gunn reinstated.

Rumors had it that the stars in Guardians Of the Galaxy threatened to quit unless they re-hired Gunn, however, it was later revealed to be an empty threat, considering most of the actors are hired under a contractual basis and would be subject to a lawsuit had they quit.

At the moment, Ms. Saldana is promoting her latest movie, Avengers: Endgame, and also has two more big movies in the works, Avatar 2 and Avatar 3. The new Avengers movie is coming out on the 26th of April, approximately 12 days away.
